Memory foam, latex and other pillow materials feel different under the head and respond differently to heat and movement. Material cannot improve the medical effectiveness of CPAP by itself, but it can affect alignment, mask stability and how easily you settle into sleep.

Memory foam
Responsive foam can contour around the neck and return slowly after movement. A contoured shape may create space for a mask, while a washable cover helps manage heat and hygiene. Look for a firmness that supports without forcing the face into the mask.
Latex and other fills
Latex often feels springier and may sleep cooler, while fibre or down alternatives can be softer and more adjustable. Softer is not always better: a pillow that collapses may let the head rotate and disturb the seal.

What to compare
- Loft and firmness for your normal sleep position.
- Breathability and temperature comfort.
- Removable, washable cover and care instructions.
- Odour after unpacking and a sensible airing period.
- Compatibility with the mask and hose route.
Try the pillow with your complete CPAP setup rather than on its own. If therapy remains uncomfortable, involve your clinician or equipment supplier.
