Pillow height influences the angle of your neck, shoulders and CPAP mask. A pillow that is too high can tilt the head forward; one that is too low can let the neck drop. Either may create morning stiffness or make it harder to keep the mask sealed.

Choose height by sleeping position
Side sleepers generally need more loft to fill the space between shoulder and head. Back sleepers usually need less. Stomach sleeping can be challenging with a mask, so ask your clinician for guidance. Mattress firmness and shoulder width also change the ideal height.
Check alignment, not just softness
Ask someone to photograph your neck from the side while you are in your normal sleep position. The head should look level with the spine rather than tipped toward the mattress or ceiling. Adjust gradually and give your body a few nights to adapt.

Signs to reassess
Morning neck pain, numbness, mask leaks or waking with the hose pulled tight are reasons to review the setup. A supportive pillow can help, but ongoing pain or poor therapy data deserves professional advice.
