There is no single pillow that works for every CPAP user. An adjustable pillow lets you customise loft and firmness, while a CPAP-specific design usually adds contours for the mask and tubing. The right choice depends on your mask style, sleeping position and neck comfort.

When adjustability helps
People with changing needs, combination sleeping positions or different mattresses may appreciate removable fill. You can lower the pillow for back sleeping or add support for side sleeping. Make one small change at a time so you can tell what helped.
When contours are valuable
Cut-outs can give a nasal or full-face mask more room and help keep the hose from being trapped. If you often wake with leaks or pressure on your cheek, a CPAP contour may be worth testing.

Use comfort as the test
The pillow should keep your neck aligned, leave the mask undisturbed and allow comfortable breathing. Persistent leaks, dry mouth or discomfort should be discussed with your equipment provider or sleep clinician. Pillow changes complement—not replace—proper CPAP fitting.
